Bare-faced Ibis

Ph: Roberto Güller

Phimosus infuscatus is a smallish ibis (50 cm), widely distributed throughout South America but with an unusual distribution: it is found on both sides of the Amazon basin. Blackish with green and blue gloos on wings, back and tail, its most outstanding feature is the pink face, bill and legs. It is found in groups, sometimes comprising hundreds of individuals. They forage in open grasslands and wetlands.
