The largest rodent in the world, its total length ranges from 100 to 130 cm and it weighs between 30 and 75 kg. It inhabits marshlands, lagoons, riverside forests and scrublands, feeding on aquatic and land vegetation. Usually observed in large groups. Hunting has become the main threat to capybaras due to its valuable meat and skin. They are good swimmers, able to remain under water for several minutes.
