Snowy Egret

Ph: Roberto Güller

Egretta thula is common in diverse aquatic habitats. Usual sightings are of solitary individuals in loose groups. Differs from Ardea alba, the Great egret, both in size and colouring. This 58 cm bird has yellow lores, thin black bill and black legs with yellow feet.  It forages in shallow waters. Its feeding habits are active, often “dancing” with partially opened wings.
