One of the least known species in Uruguay is Physalaemus fernandezae. A very small amphibian, most of the biological data comes from Argentinian localities, where it seems to be more common. It is classed as LC (Least Concern) by IUCN at the global level; locally it is listed as Threatened due to loss of habitat, and it is listed as a conservation priority by the National Protected Area System (SNAP, for its acronym in Spanish.
